This article takes a basic fact that is perfecly reasonable and tries to turn it into something sinister

That's not sinister, that's logical. If you show people who are eligible for subsidies the full prices, they'll be confused and think the healthcare is more expensive than it really is. It makes no sense to let every random person browse the exchange without knowing what subsidies they'll be eligible for. That's not trying to hide how costly plans are, it's trying to make sure the price a person sees is accurate for their situation.
