From what I understand, his issues were with the higher-ups back then aside from the fact he really just signed on for one season. I remember reading how he didn't like how people were being treated, etc. I think season 1 was probably stressful and chaotic for anyone there. I mean, they were re-booting this UK treasure after so many years, so much was on the line. I'm sure they all butted heads with each other.

I love Captain Jack. Barrowman was sooo good-looking back then till he messed with his face. However, even though I love him, he really was better suited for Torchwood which has more of an adult theme. I remember Moffat and RTD agreeing on how Captain Jack can come to DW anytime but The Doctor can never go to Torchwood because the children would follow him there and Torchwood is not exactly for kids unlike DW.

I love Chris because he was my first. You never forget your first Doctor as the Whovians say. I loved how lonely and damaged he was and then you get to see that manic, mischievous sparkle in his eye. He just grabbed me and I never let go. Tennant cemented my DW love while Matt just nurtured it even further. I don't think I'd ever be a Whovian had it not been for Chris. DW would not have been successful either had his version of The Doctor failed to pique anyone's interest.

I loved RTD's reign very much. Humongous credit goes to him for successfully resurrecting the show. Every Whovian won't deny though that during his tenure, the best written shows were that of Moffat. The thing is, even RTD during his DW time wrote some klunkers as well(The Next Doctor, The Master episodes, the Adipose, etc). Not sure who wrote the farting aliens story but that's a klunker as well. It WAS time for him to go, the last episodes of Tennant's reign weren't that great. Then we got Torchwood:Miracle Day and man, that was painful. All I'm saying is, both Moffat and RTD don't have perfect scores---they both have brilliant and horrid episodes. I think it doesn't help that Moffat is an ass though, . I would like RTD to write an episode or be part of the anniversary as well. He's one of the founders of New Who; he deserves it

I think as a showrunner, BBC won't ever fire Moffat, well not yet. WIth Matt, he has brought in bigger, history-making numbers, more publicity and recognition, as well as nominations and awards. We'll find out later with the New Doc if all the good stuff the show reaped was actually more due to Matt's charisma than the writing itself.
