I honestly can't even guess who they'll choose but I have faith. Say what you want about Moffatt but he is great at casting just look at Coupling and Sherlock. I have loved every single actor since the reboot. I love all three equally and I am really hoping I will again, make space in my heart to love the next ones, smiley: happy

When Matt was first cast, I had a lot of doubt because of his youth and let's face it, David and Chris were just HOTTER, smiley: laugh. However, I saw immediately what the producers saw in him just with the first episode and that was a hard surprise to admit since David just really captured my heart. Matt proved my doubts wrong in that episode and with every episode after that regardless of how good or bad the script was. He owned the role immediately and even though David's shadow was formidable, he was able to do a spectacular job the way Chris and David had. I knew he would last as long as David because let's face it, despite the Moffatt hate, critics love him and frankly, no studio on earth would ever ignore a star that brings in big numbers. His tenure leaves not only the fact that the show has broken into America not only with record-breaking numbers and magazine covers, he is also the ONLY actor that has been nominated for a BAFTA as The Doctor. Whether you like Matt or not, the boy definitely made his mark.

I am really excited for his post-Who work. He seems to choose out-of-the-box projects like Robert Downey, Jr and Johnny Depp before they chose the box office route.

I wouldn't have minded another season of Matt. He was always a delight to watch whether the scene called for comedy or drama. I however think his timing for his departure was carefully and humbly chosen. I'm sure he didn't want to do it during the 50th anniversary celebration; it would definitely have overshadowed that and put the focus on him more. The rumors of him departing around this time has been going on for years. I knew it was coming but man, it still makes me sad. smiley: frown

Maybe Matt can now be a guest in Sherlock in the future. My heart would really explode, smiley: laugh! A part of me is sad because we may never see Donna and Matt and/or Captain Jack and Matt together unless something is up in the 50th anniversary or his Christmas episode. That's a whole lot of potential wackiness/comedy/flirtation that I will definitely pine for.
