I didn't see this when it was posted, and though I follow Mark, I don't see all his @ replies because I don't follow Jonathan Ross.  I'm just going to sum up everything I've ever said about the imaginary Elementary/Sherlock feud here:

ABC tried twice (once in the 80s and once in the 90s) to bring Sherlock back as a show, both with female Watsons.  There was a modern day Holmes and Watson in San Francisco (and presumably both American) pilot produced but not picked up in 2000 also called Elementary (no relation).  I'm certain that the success of Sherlock had everything to do with US network TV trying again, but let's face it, all our many procedurals owe a debt to Sherlock Holmes and the shows are so VERY different.  If anything, it may lead people who have never heard of Sherlock to actually watch the show.

And Jonathan, it's not "shite."  I'm guessing you watched one and only one episode.  Way to have an informed opinion. smiley: ohwell
