Alright - I'll try to give you a picture of the typical students in my class. After I taught them the procedures the first week of school, my students are able to come in the classroom and put everything where it needs to go (their agenda, take home folder, take home reader, book bags, coats, snacks, etc.) Then they make their lunch choice. They do all of that without any assistance or reminders from me. They eat breakfast in the classroom and are able to open containers by themselves and get cleaned up when they are finished independently. They are able to follow a chart to know which workstation to go to next during guided reading time. They are able to put on their coats, gloves, etc. by themselves. Some of them still have trouble tying shoes though. They are able to go through the lunchline and put what they want on their tray completely independently. They are able to run errands to different places in the school, and I send students who go to other teachers at certain time by themselves. They are extremely social. I walk with them and make sure that they all get to the correct bus, but they can all walk to the bus by themselves and get on the correct bus out of 10 buses. Sorry that is so long! Hope that helps some. I would be happy to answer any specific questions if you have any.
