That's exactly what I was afraid of! I have to go to the DMV for something else anyway, so two birds/one stone... I called the dealership and the unhelpful Title Clerk basically told me I didn't know what I was talking about, and that couldn't possibly be happening, so I'm forwarding her the notices I've gotten as proof. Here's to terrible customer service! And yes, to the person who asked, my housemate IS an idiot and DOES live that way. Worse, he's in his 40's and should know better. But this is the first time I've ever had anything like this happen and he sounded so confident I began to second guess myself. I definitely don't want to end up in court like the other poster's boyfriend. I am disgruntled because it's not like I sold the car to a shady fly-by-night operation - it was Mini of San Francisco, which seems big & professional and you think they would know what they're doing.
