My doctor started prescribing me Xanax when I started having really bad panic attacks, sometimes for no apparent reason.

I remember the first time explaining to my doctor that I was having episodes of what I thought were anxiety attacks. When it happens I feel really dizzy, can't focus on anything, I feel like I can't breathe (but when I really focus just on my breathing I realize I'm actually breathing fine yet I still feel like I'm going to pass out), I become really claustrophobic, and my chest feels really heavy like there's an elephant sitting on it. My doctor first prescribed me the Xanax as a quick fix, but also sent me for bloodwork and some other tests and I'll be going to see a cardiologist too just to make sure there isn't anything else going on that's being masked by the anxiety since heart disease runs in my family.
