While I think that the 2nd degree murder charge is trumped up, he may get convicted.

And just because Zimmerman didn't attack first, Jayne, how exactly would you respond if some stranger, who isn't law enforcement is basically stalking you and questioning you while you're walking alone, at night? While he may not have attacked first, his actions can definitely be viewed as threatening and menacing. The only thing I would've done differently is call the cops, but he was a kid and most kids don't think in a logical manner, but I dang sure would've been looking for an opening to defend myself in the face of a perceived threat.

Im still trying to figure out why Zimmerman had his gun out the car? Just someone walking down the street that you don't think belongs isn't a good reason. It says to me he was itching to use it, especially because he could've stayed in his car to protect himself from a threat if Trayvon was indeed up to no good. I know many gun owners, who always have their guns and they say that they're never poised to use them unless they know their lives are in imminent danger. George's life wasn't in danger. He created this situation by not listening to instructions from dispatch and for getting out of his car with a gun to accost someone who wasn't thinking about him.

This is exactly how I feel. It's hard for me to believe Zimmerman acted in self-defense because he was the one who chose to pursue Trayvon. If I saw someone who I perceived as threatening, I would do everything in my power to avoid the person. In Zimmerman's case, he could have stayed in his car or just drove off. But he chose to confront Trayvon, and like you pointed out, he had his gun with him to do it. Even if Trayvon did start the physical alteraction, I still think Zimmerman was the one who was actually a threat since he was carrying a weapon.
