That's nothing. One of my friends who's family is filthy rich went to USC. She had such horrible grades in high school to the point that her parents actually paid a crap load of money just to get her into USC. She told me that C & P got her through school (cut and paste) she plagiarized everything. And she got whatever she wanted, trips to Europe during the summer, Aspen in the Winter, etc..

I on the other hand went to UCLA, and I had to pay for it myself, well with the exception of scholarships and financial aid. I come from a huge family, and there was no chance my parents could have saved enough money for me. I used to eat free when the Hare Krishna Monks would come on campus. I really had to do my best at figuring out how to get a free meal, and then I ended up getting three jobs to survive.

I think all parents should pay for their kids education. I also think if I had a kid in college I would want them to have a nice experience. I personally knew too many students that never had any money, and were living off of Top Ramen or going hungry, kinda like myself. I think that you do have a point though in terms of where you draw the line. There is something to say about the kid that earns what they get in life. I had some hard knocks, but I got through it.
