A lot of people say how amazing The Dark Tower series is, but I'm kind of having trouble getting into it. I'm on the third book. Some parts of it are really interesting and entertaining, but a lot of it bores the hell out of me. I thought the first one was boring until at least halfway through.
I tried the first one years ago when I was in high school.  Don't remember a thing about it except that it didn't interest me, at least not fast enough, and I didn't get far into it.  But that series is a big part of the reason why I started reading his stuff from the beginning.  I hear that SO many of the characters from other books show up (in big and small roles) throughout the series and there's a pretty major tie in with Insomnia so I really want to read them.  Thought it would be best to read everything in order instead of reading the series and not getting a lot of the connections.

I'm also sad that Gerald's Game, Duma Key, and Bag of Bones (another I've read at least five times) were so low on the list.

What book popped everyone's King cherry?  For me it was The Green Mile, still one of my faves, read it at least three or four times.  I first read it when it was still being released in installments.  My aunt had started it and I borrowed her copies as she finished them but then I passed her up somewhere around the middle.  Got the last book the day it was released.
