Professionalism is really important to me. I am always really careful to be polite, respectful, and calm in work situations.  I am working with someone now who will respond to nice, reasonable, polite emails in near hysterics including CAPS TO LET US KNOW WHEN SHE IS SHRIEKING and personal attacks against individuals. It is seriously like being on the JJB sometimes. Sometimes I want to tell her that that is why everyone hates her and is absolutely thrilled she is leaving in May.

I also teach and teaching is like my playtime and I usually love everything about it. However, I hate at the end of the semester when 2-3 panicked students suddenly start harassing me about their grades. We have been in school for three+ months and a new program shows them all of their individual grades and then calculates their current final average throughout the semester. Grades are NOT a surprise. Coming to my office, getting in my face and asking what I am going to do about it with less than a week of classes left pretty much guarantees that I will not go out of my way to help you in any way. Once again, politeness, friendliness, and maturity gets you much further than random emotional attacks.
