This.  I don't really see how this is UPS' fault.  They just deliver the package according to the instructions.  If the shipper told them to leave it on the doorstep, that's what they'll do.   Seems like Best Buy is the shitty one in this situation for not requiring a signature.

I don't think anyone is disputing that if no one is home then they'll leave it on the doorstep. It's that the delivery people aren't even ringing doorbells to let people know that a delivery has been made that has everyone upset. Fortunately UPS has always let us know when there is a delivery.

I guess in my experience that's just normal.  I don't think they ever ring my door if they don't need my signature.  I thought that was standard operating procedure so was just a bit surprised that so many people seemed upset about it.  If the package isn't important enough to merit a signature I don't blame the delivery person for not thinking you need to be called to the door to get it right away.
