You can't just take away Verlander's win's and say oh the Tigers only would have finished whatever. You have to take into account the fact that he stopped countless Tigers losing streaks, that's making a two game swing. Especially earlier in the season when there wasn't another Tigers pitcher that was winning anything period! You had a struggling Penny and Porcello and a mediocre Scherzer and a pitcher in Coke that was so bad as a starter that he had to be sent back to the bullpen.

I remember thinking around memorial day that the Tigers would be lucky to finish the season .500 and it felt like we wouldn't see another win until Verlander started.

*16-3 after a Tigers loss, most victories for a pitcher after defeat in almost 40 years.
*In late July the Tigers were tied with the Indians for first place, this was not some early year runaway with the central division. Starting in late July Verlander went on a 12 game winning streak conveniently right around the time the Tigers started to run away with the division.
