So if he was reported to the police back in 98 and the police did nothing.. who's to say something would have happened differently if Paterno had contacted the police? Why is no one asking why he wasnt arrested back in 98? That would have saved a lot of boys from being molested.

Because this was a major cover-up. Penn State is State College. Paterno and the University own that town. After the 1998 incident, Sandusky promised to stop showering with young boys. Pedophilia is a sickness that doesn't happen over night and sure as hell won't go away either. The fact that they didn't haul his ass in prison in 1998 speaks volume of what's important to the Penn State and the town. The original DA is known to prosecute heinous offenders to the fullest extent, yet he dropped the charges and unsurprisingly disappeared and years later is considered dead.  In 2002,  a 28-year-old 6'2", 220lb ex quarterback grad assistant walked in on Sandusky raping a 10 year old child and walked away. Sure he was in shock, but after the initial shock waned, a human being would have charged at Sandusky and rescued the child.  Instead, he called his father, who encouraged him to meet with Paterno at his home the next day. I bet they weren't discussing about helping this child and stopping Sandusky, but they were discussing how to make this all go away. Apparently, McQueary's dad, Paterno, Sandusky, and I'm sure all of the coaches are good friends. At the end, keys were taken care and Sandusky was told that he could no longer bring kids on campus. So according to Penn State, Sandusky was free to molest and rape little boys as long as he did it off campus.  Consider this if Paterno is really that innocent and did all he could, why did he remain as a board member for Second Mile up until recently, knowing that his good buddy is a child molester and rapist (because that is what he is) and that he set up the charity as a means to lure young victims. How can someone with any morals not confront Sandusky and demand justice? And now there are rumors that Sandusky was pimping out boys to rich donors for Second Mile and quite possibly also for Penn State. They had no regards for the safety and well being of those boys. It was all about money, power, and football.
