Disgusting.

This is why it's SO important to talk about sex. Important to talk to kids about safe sex, healthy relationships and innappropriate conduct, so that they know when to tell an adult about sexual abuse. Half these kids were probably too young to even know what was going on, and they weren't taught that it's okay to tell your mom about something like this.

And why it's important that we as a culture make sure its OKAY to talk about sex, sexual assault, sexual abuse, rape, etc. People are obviously uncomfortable discussing these topics, or they think they aren't important enough. We have a tendency to shut people up about such things, when in reality we need to make sure that schools, homes, doctors offices, workplaces are safe places where someone can come forward and report such things. We need to change all of this at the societal level...firing people from their jobs and throwing them in jail, while appropriate for this situation, is NOT going to help matters nor is is it going to prevent future children from getting hurt.

What we need, is sex ed starting at a young age. As kids grow older, they need to be taught by school counselors, their parents, and their teachers about safe sex, how to have healthy relationships, and what to do if someone starts mistreating you. They need to learn from a young age what abuse/assault is. And once they get to college or start employment, they need to learn about sexual harassment, date rape on college campuses, "roofies" etc.
