Your story makes me want to hug you.

I called my mom (who loaned me the book in the first place) this morning to tell her I finished it and how much I enjoyed it.  We talked about my story from kindergarten and then talked about various topics related to being colorblind.  I think part of what influenced me was my white family being very close friends with a black family.  One of my best friends when I was little was black and she and I have the same name-- might sound weird, but I think growing up with someone with whom I had something really specific in common with even though we are obviously different made me less concerned with HOW we were different.

I hope The Help becomes required reading in high schools.
