Kindle 3 has the best screen of any e-reader on the market right now. Some people like the aesthetics factor of the nook color, but it's unnecessary. Buttons>touch screen. The kindle's E-ink Pearl screen looks as much as like a paperback as any real book. Flipping pages is very responsive too. .PDF support on kindles is shoddy, but nothing conversion software like calibre can't handle. Being able to sit in a B&N and read books for free is a pretty neat feature....but it's not like you can't get free ebOoks on kindle with a simple google search.
In your opinion. I can't stand buttons. I looked at a Kindle. I played around on it. It was blah. Also, yes you can sit and B&N and read books for free, and there are also a bajillion free books you can "buy" on your Nook. You can get free ebooks anywhere though as you said. I suppose they both get the job done. It depends on your personal style. If you like the buttons, Kindle it is.
