Untrue. I'm 23, going to be 24 in February, and they're still asking for my parents information. Two years ago, this amounted to... giving me $0. When I first went to school at age 18, same thing. My mom was paying out of loans she took from the bank. Because regardless of whether FAFSA thinks my parents make "decent money," they don't. My mom works retail and my dad works a job that's only relevant 8 months out of the year. They have three children, one of which is 19, living at home and has her own child, and the other is 11 so he is still 100% dependent on them.

The government, insofar as financial aid, is a crock of shit. If I'm paying the money back to you with interest, and I provide you with truthful information that you can check into and I will gladly give, then give me just enough money to cover the classes. Ugh.
