Might help for you to look up the Kelly Blue Book value of the car. Then you can gauge whether or not you think the damage would cost more or less than that to fix.
GAP coverage is usually purchased from either the dealer or the financial institution your loan is with. Maybe look through the paperwork from when you bought the car to see if you bought it.
