There was a stray at my old apartment complex. She just popped up one day, we think someone moved and left her behind.

It was the dead of winter and she was cold and starving. My next door neighbor and I took turns taking her in. We'd leave her out during the day and take her in at night. We each set up a box with a blanket on our patios for her and we left her food every morning.

On the really cold days we'd even lock her in our bathroom with a blanket, toys and food. Just to keep warm.

My neighbor and I both fell in love with her but neither could keep her. We already had a cat in the apartment and Spike HATES other cats. The neighbor had a diabetic kitty and she had to focus her attention on that cat.

We both got eviction notices threatening to get kicked out if we kept feeding a stray. It was in our contraacts.

So we took her to the Humane Society Together and they called us the day she got adopted!!

She would've froze to death if we hadn't taken her in. She was sooo sweet. I still miss her.
