I've been a nanny, but never live in. Can't say I ever felt that way, because they treated me well, and even though it was difficult and I was asked to do a lot, they were very grateful. I even got gifts a lot. I did dishes and kept things picked up, occasionally vacuumed, did the kids laundry and made their beds, etc.

Maybe you just have to evaluate if you can handle it or not. Some people just expect the nanny to become a part of the family, and that includes the sucky stuff as well as the good stuff.
