Anyway, back to the OP's question, yes get one.  I refused to get one for ages on principle, because I love books so much.  But I got tired of the weight and bulk of carrying about 3 books on holiday.   So you will appreciate it.  My only caveat is that since you're taking it abroad, I'd recommend getting the WiFi+3G model.  WiFi isn't as ubiquitous and free in Europe as I once thought (I learned that the hard way with my WiFi-only iPad purchase).  You can check 3G coverage for where you're going to be here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003FSUDM4
