I have over double that in student loans. I am currently in the process of buying a house and it did affect the process. I couldn't get the loan I wanted because my debt to income ratio was so screwed up from my student loans even though all of them are in deferment. Like I said, I have way more than you but they definitely take it into consideration because it is a debt that you must pay back. However, I plan on going to school forever and don't plan on paying them back for that reason but they don't buy that
