I don't need a piece of paper to validate my relationship to anyone else. Who cares what anyone outside your relationship thinks about your relationship. This society puts WAY to much importance into what people think of them.

But I'm trying to understand what you're saying. Are you saying that by having gay marriage, gays will think that straight couples will acknowledge them or treat them any better? That's very wishful thinking. Once again, what's wrong with a civil union. And let the religious folks have marriage. I don't see the problem in that except the whole separate but equal bullshit. The state doesn't believe in equality, it has to have different groups to pit against each other or who knows, people might actually start blaming their problems on the state (rightfully) and stop pointing their fingers at other people.

I mean, really. Barack Obama let DADT repeal, but when you think about it, the military industrial complex needs more people to fight their wars. They don't want to give you marriage benefits, but they don't mind sending you off to die or suffer mass psychological damage. Think about that one.
