I think he was actually in jail for 2 years.

I appreciate the fact that he has since taken responsibility for his past actions. He could have very well gotten out of jail and just become another criminal in society. Rather he went out and continued doing what he loved doing. More power to him.

Please, let's not romanticize this. He went back to a profession that not only overlooked his crimes (unlike pretty much any other profession) but also one that offered him millions of dollars. He did what most people would do in his situation...like who would choose a life of crime over a million dollar+ contract?
If I remember correctly, not many teams wanted him once he decided to get back into the NFL. Even when he did sign with the Eagles, he was the 3rd string QB for 2 years. It wasn't until this year that he became a starter. He hasn't had it as easy as you're making it seem.

I'm not saying he had it easy. But someone did ultimately want him (he really didn't have to wait too long at all), and look at him now. And I'm still pretty sure that most people would choose to make a shitload of money as a 3rd string NFL quarterback over a life of crime. Again, he made a thoroughly logical choice, not a difficult one.
