But that's the thing. I don't see anybody painting Vick as a hero. He's playing spectacular football and could lead his team to the Super Bowl. Are people supposed to lie & say that he sucks and that's not the case because of his past? That's just ridiculous & completely unrealistic. He's getting praise because he's doing a great job on the football field. And he for sure isn't asking for anyone's praise or attention. He's just playing.

He also seems to have turned his life around. Usually people do get credit for that. Celebrity, athlete, or a normal person.
Yes, that would be ridiculous, which is why I didn't say any of that. I also understand that great playing from ANY player tends to generate hyperbolic praise. But in Michael Vick's case, I think it's pretty undeniable that a lot of this praise has taken a certain underlying tone due to his whole ordeal. How can it not? The guy went to prison, (deservedly) got a shitload of bad press, got into financial trouble, and he's now incredibly doing well in the NFL. I get why it's a "thing," but even though it seems to makes sense on paper, I'm just saying that I personally have a hard time with it.
