I would say make sure you get really meaningful cards for your friends. In them, you can write a message to then telling them how much they mean to you. And you might also add, if you so choose, that although you may have been lacking in money, that has no reflection on how much they mean to you at all. I love picking cards, because in actuality cards can and often do say so much more than the gift.
