I went through a situation like this a couple of weeks ago. The bride and groom were registered online at several stores. They included registration info with their save the date notice 6 months before the actual wedding date. I'm sure someone found this tacky, but I appreciated it. I couldn't attend the wedding and I waited until the last minute to shop online. It was shipped to the address on file with the store (a family member's house that was helping them catalog the gifts for thank you's as they came in). Talk about organized! Another family member talked crap about how in poor taste it was to have the online gifts shipped to an address that was not their own, but I think it was done for dummies like me that forget dates. The gift wasn't delivered until while they were on their honeymoon cruise. At least I didn't have to worry about it being left by FedEx to be stolen by someone.
