I was in 8th grade science class...in middle school about 15 minutes away from DC. We kept hearing ambulance sirens and it was SO noisy outside! A few kids were making jokes like "haha i wonder if someone got shot!" because there was still so much hype over Columbine and other similar tragedies. I remember someone walked down the hallways and was locking everyone inside the classrooms and pulling the blinds down on the small windows on the doors. That was SO freaky...all of us students started freaking out but the teacher wouldn't tell us what happened and why they were locking down the school.

Finally after a few minutes they allowed us to switch classrooms (I'm guessing this was well after the 1st/2nd towers went down)-- We went to US history next. And finally our History teacher told us what happened. He said "Just like my generation will never forget the day JFK died, you will never forget this day". It was soo scary...And immediately, my history teacher recieved a phone call from my dad, saying that I was being picked up early. My dad works in DC and they had evacuated his building after the pentagon was hit.

I was the first one to leave the school - it was SOOO eerie on the drive home. Everything was completely silent..not a single car on the road. and NPR was freaking out about it...

And then I went home and starting posting on JJB for the FIRST TIME EVER. I was always a lurker but somehow the dynamic of JJB that day just made me want to reach out and connect with others. I remember a JJBer died that day in the WTC attacks..I think it was that girl Candace that went on TRL in her towel when NSYNC visited. Or am I thinking of another JJBer?
