I was in my freshman year of college at USF in Tampa just getting to class. Someone came in and said that the WTC was bombed and the TA wasn't sure what to do then. So he dismissed class. I tried calling my mom on my cell phone and had a hard time getting through. Finally her call made it through and she told me to get back to my dorm as fast as possible and stay there. I still wasn't sure what was going on but when I walked into my dorm a bunch of kids were in the common room watching and that's when the 2nd plane hit. I ran into my room and woke up my roommate. We turned the tv on and classes were cancelled for the day and the school was on lock down. Yes, it was just a school in Tampa but I remember the fear everyone was feeling because no one knew what would happen next. Late Thursday I left for home because a hurricane was headed for us. I remembering feeling like I just wanted to be home with my parents.
I was a senior at USF in Tampa.  It was crazy there. I totally remember when they put us on lockdown there.  One of my roommates then was a Muslim girl.  I remember being afraid that people would say or do awful things, but aside from a few nasty comments left at our door, it wasn't too bad.

I had a late class that day, but got up early, just in time to see the 2nd plane hit.
