I don't know what happened...he slams things around, stomps around the house, and is gone from about 8am till 11pm everyday and its absolutely MIA on the weekends. And he's been doing really odd, passive agressive things that we just can't understand: -He's been turning the air down to 58* at night and then up to 90* during the day when we have pets in the house. I came home from running some errands late one morning (11ish) to find it was 95* in the house and my dog was panting up a storm. -My boyfriend had apparently missed a turd of our dog's in the back driveway, and our roommate made the effort to sweep it inside the basement and let it sit in the middle of the floor instead of sweeping it 3 feet in the other direction off the hill that drops off from the driveway. -I came home this afternoon from an errand to find my paystub (I have direct deposit, but they mail me my stub) ripped open and out of the envelope on the kitchen table. Our roommate wasn't home all morning or afternoon, but in the 3 hours we were gone, he came home and opened MY mail. I'm PISSED. But he avoids us and when we try to speak to him, he just walks away and locks his bedroom door. How the hell can I approach him about it?

It is a rare thing to find someone who has respect for personal space and property. But yes, you need to tell him it is 100% NOT ok for him to open mail. Your pay stub especially.....personal information is on there. Try once to tell him your concerns nicely. If it doesn't work after that, suggest he move out to find a place better suited to his needs.

Posts: 28642 (07/04/2009 7:07 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Friend Block Invite Ignore	We really can't think of anything that makes sense, but when it started was when he came home from being gone one weekend to a sink full of dishes and flipped out. But they were all his! My boyfriend and I, unfortunately, eat out all the time. We never use any dishes, and everything in the sink were his dishes and pots and pans, etc. The rest of the house was clean, expect for that sink of dishes and when he walked in, he marched straight into the kitchen and started slamming stuff around, even breaking 2 glasses in the process. Since then, he hasn't said a word to us and all of this stuff has started happening. And really, if THAT is what caused all of this, that's really lame and stupid. And does not warrant him leaving our dog and cat in a 90+ house when the heat index outside is almost 100. I just don't get it.

Tell him its crucial and don't let him get out of going. Because wtf he has to communicate SOMETIME with you & your boyfriend. Sorry you have to go through with this. It sucks reading about shitty roommate problems on here I've only had one shitty roommate situation in my life, and hope to never run into again. And what the fuck with opening your mail. Your paystub usually has your SS# on it for crissakes!!

I mean, he's an awesome person to have as a roommate...or at least, he was until this last month. So I really hope we can resolve this, but its like every time we try to talk to him to just open up some friendly communication, he just ignores us. Its hard to talk to a brick wall.

I would just be flat out straightforward with him. You want to just get down to the bottom of it and THEN you can soften the blow after he (hopefully) fills you in on his rampage lately.

You can always use that as a last resort if you need to find a way to get him out of the house permanently. Or, hell, since he's out so much, change the locks one day.

She just woke up one day and decided to hate my guts and made it her mission to show me how much she despised me. When I tried to talk to her, she'd do the exact same thing, although she'd show disgust in her face and storm off. I just started writing notes and slipping them under her door and she'd slip them back and then I got pissed and started banging on her door asking her to step the fuck out cuz we needed to talk. Of course she ignored me and I couldn't be bothered with her immaturity anymore and just let it go. I was only there for two more weeks anyway. It was definitely the most hardest two weeks though, just to know your mere existence disgusts someone that much. Good luck with your roomie.
