Basically, McKenna, what I'm getting at is that I don't think anyone in here would be defending her actions if she had said something else derogatory.

I haven't either, and maybe I could've done a better job explaining what I meant, but I think people gloss over that word and don't acknowledge its
context. Like someone else said, they think that just because a black artist feels comfortable using it that anyone can say it and no one should bat an eye.

I blame N.E.R.D, Tupac and Kanye for making songs to sing along to.

you should've smack that bish up.

it's a word that unfortunately is commonly used in most music today. i don't fault her for saying it while she was singing a song, it would be nice if the word was just eliminated from everyone's vocabulary. |

I'm glad I don't listen to his music. That means I can forever avoid this question of whether P5 thinks I should sing it or not.

Ho wrote: Exactly. This post is so stupid. Who would edit the lyrics if the artist put it in there? And who goes up to someone and says that?? LOL Lame. And when BIG's "Juicy" is playing, I am going to sing all the lyrics. I haven't had anything said to me by my black friends, so whatever. |

When I was in school we had to read portions of books out loud that contained the word, do you think that's ok? Or should the word be skipped over in that
case too?
What if a black man/woman wrote a play with the word and a white actor was in it? Should they not say the word even though it's part of the art the person created? I really don't think I'd be singing a Kanye song in the middle of the workplace, but I just don't find it to be all that upsetting. |
