I would have to say WRONG to that whole statement. IBM's are the best machines ever made. I still have a thinkpad I got 7 years ago and still works like
new. Love it. I don't get viruses because I'm not stupid, don't have any errors and mine is def. not obsolete.

These threads are almost getting as good as the tipping threads! Love it.
People have horror stories on both sides of the spectrum, so it's null and void to argue about. Each system has its pros and it's cons. But just to de bunk a previous statement in here - I don't know anyone who has bought a PC and a year later or whatever had to spend $700 to replace/fix it. What the hell kind of thinking is that? lol. That's straight mac propaganda lol. I've had PC's my whole life, since I can first remember and never in my lord knows how many years have I ever had to spend a dime to fix my computer. Does that mean no PC user has ever had to spend $$ to fix their computer? No, I'm sure many have. Just like many mac users have had to spend money to fix their computer. It's all relative. With that said, I do though still hold my previous opinion that about 85% of people who do get a mac, only get it because it's hip and trendy. |

DoesThatSparkle wrote:This. I have a PC. Its from 2003. Other than having to replace my RAM I had no problems with it until recently when a power outage fried my motherboard (yes, it was connected to a surge protector). So I had to get a new one of them. Turns out it also made my hard drive faulty and eventually caused that to crash so I had to get one of those as well. But no big deal because I backed up a lot of things for that "just in case the new motherboard doesn't work' thing. I made it harder than it was because at the time I thought my hard drive was still fine and went shopping for the exact motherboard I had because I didn't want to reformat (which I had to do anyways, obviously). But other than that, no problems for 6 years. I'm virus free because I protect myself. Yea I get errors but I know Macs with errors. Hell, my friend has one that will boot up but once it gets to like the "welcome screen" it won't go any further. It just sits there. So her Mac is currently just a paperweight like my old hard is a paperweight. They both have their issues. If Mac works for you, great. If PC works for you, great. It's all an opinion. But don't act like yours is so much better than someone elses because they use "the other kind". That's just stupid. And the whole "artsy" thing is stupid too. All graphics are is simply how skilled the user is. I know professional graphic designers who work wonders on PCs. And I'm still waiting for the day someone will unleash this huge virus for Mac computers. I mean, there's already some out there but I'm just waiting for the big one. The one where I can laugh at the snotty ones who always say "well Macs can't get viruses so my computer is so much better than yours!". It'll happen one day. You know some twisted fool out there is working on one. |

our very first computer when i was growing up was a mac. we called 'em APPLES back in those days lol we had the APPLE IIe. we had another two after that
and then the PC's came out - i've been on PC's ever since but now that i'm into ph0tography i wanted a laptop and desktop that was safer for my
files. Also, the LCD is awesome! I don't know wtf is up with the PC lcd now that I'm on a mac and once you get the hang of the new commands and keys,
everything is virtually easier to do, better short cuts, plus, their multimedia ROCKS!
The only thing I have an issue with is I need Excel and Word. I tried to do an Excel spreadsheet (it opened find on my mac) but when i went to work on it, it transferred me to NUMBERS, a mac app and then the person couldn't view it. I thought the mac and pc apps were supposed to work on both now? It might have been me doing something wrong and I haven't tried to figure it out yet but yeah, that's one thing that bothers me if it is true they won't convert. We now have an iMac too and I will never own another PC again unless mac's go to shit. My husband was talking all this shit about my macbook but he just went out and bought one yesterday lmao he realizes his old laptop was doo doo compared to mine. |

I have a MacBook and a Sony Vaio Desktop. I love both equally. My sister is the one who actually turned me onto Apple computers. Its all she's ever used.
So I said when I got myself a laptop I'd get a Mac so I could be like my big sister, who uses an iMac!

Talise81 wrote: An Apple IIe isn't a Mac. An Apple IIe is an Apple IIe. The Apple Macintosh came out after the Apple IIe. It's like models of cars: there's a Ford Focus and a Ford Fusion. A Focus is a Focus and a Fusion is a Fusion. If you drive a Fusion, you don't say you drive a Focus. Apple had other models while the Mac was out -- the Apple IIc, the Apple IIgs, but the Mac ended up being the most popular, so they stuck with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Apple These days PCs and Macs are so similar, it's hard to say which is better. I always had Apples in school, so I learned how to use a computer on the Apple IIe and later a Mac. Windows is now so much like the Mac OS that it's easy for me to switch between the two. When I bought my own computer, I ended up buying a PC because it was cheaper, and that was really the only reason. It's now 6 years old, and I've replaced some things on it, but it still works fine. At work, we have Macs that are just as old and still work fine, despite daily "abuse" by middle schoolers. These days it's really just a matter of preference. |
