So now I'm looking for a computer mostly used for email, media (music/videos), internet, write, etc. I was at Best Buy and they showed me a couple of computers. Both have 4GB DDR Memory, 320 GB, 17" Display . But what I wanted to know is what you guys have? Do any of you have a laptop specifically used for internet, media, etc. What brand(s) do you recommend? The first is the Toshiba AMD Turion X2 Dual Core Mobile Rm-72 Laptop The second is a HP AMD Athon X2 Dual Core Processor QL-62 Laptop Edited By: ForeverInYourEyes 07/03/2009 6:00 PM. Edited 1 time.

The 2nd one just died a couple of days ago. The place I went to to try to get it repaired told me I was the 5th one to walk in recently with a DV series HP laptop. I didn't even have to tell him what's wrong; he knew right away. He said the DV series has motherboard issues and it would cost at least $400-$500 to get that replaced.

I bought one of those as well a couple weeks ago and had to return it within 10 days... the fan was just making way too much noise and the battery kept overheating.... I actually burnt myself when I picked it up one time... it was that damn hot.... I go to return it to BestBuy and these guys are trying to tell me that it's normal I also had a Toshiba for about 3 years but it died on me... It was ok for the most part... I've seen some nice ones but I've been hesitant to get another Toshiba.... I have a Dell that I use for work...It's pretty old and I've put it through hell and it's still works pretty damn good considering what it's been through... I'm thinking of getting a Dell for personal use... Any comments on Dells?

Go to Office Max if you have one...they can have really good deals on their laptops and they have what's called an Essentials Kit, and it comes with what's like a warranty but it covers accidents as well as normal wear and tear and if anything happens to it they send it away for free and fix it for free, and they also give you a loaner while your computer is being fixed. It also comes with a case, 6 months of online microsoft training, 6 months of online digital backup and storage, a years worth of free web based service and set up, and a years worth of fraud protection services etc.
