I don't think she sounds pretentious. Those sound like words that have come out of my mouth after a trip to Europe, and many other peoples too.

She's not entirely wrong. She may have numbers mixed up but comparing Spain (or any other European country), not just to the US, but to North American in
general, the history it has is beyond what we have, not just in buildings but in everything in general. I was in Lebanon last summer and I was shocked at how
different the lifestyle is there than it is in Canada. Their priorities, mentalities... everything. They are so much more laid back and stress/worry free. They
enjoy life more than we do.

And they are less paranoid. North American culture is a very paranoid culture.

It sounds like something a jackass 20 year old who just came back from Junior Year Abroad would say, not a 40 year well-traveled woman.
It doesn't help that she's put down the US before with her pretentious comments (and I'm not a "RAH RAH USA is #1!!" kind of person). |

She should take some lesson from someone like Johnny Depp on how to be an American, live abroad, and not come off sounding like a pretentious ass.

I am not a big fan or Gwyneth but I don't thinks she has said anything wrong. It is the truth, there's a big difference between USA and Spain.

Well... duh. But she really does need to stop insulting her home country --- which is also her bread and butter.

Wow, now she can't have an opinion. Nothing she says is received well on here so I don't even know why she's ever brought up.
So what, she thinks America sucks ass, so does millions of other people.

I know plenty of people outside JJB who think she's annoying and a horrible actress.

Paltrow's problem is that she's not that bright, but wants to be in a very bad way.
Her education is limited (highschool), but she desperately wants to come across as this highly esoteric, cultured worldly person. Her inability to attempt any kind of deductive reasoning or just express herself in a literate way, leads to these broad generalities and pedestrian comments: 'I like Great Britain because their antiques are older,' or 'I like Spain, it's not like New York where everyone has a blackberry on.' This kind of commentary only serves to show just how breathtakingly ignorant she is. There's a way to communicate all the wonderful things about a culture that you're familiar with, without negating and denigrating others. But she does this all the time - it's sheer stupidity more than anything else. |

I'm not even American but really, come on? It's not the fault of the United States that it doesn't have things that date that far back, it was not
discovered! Europeans found and established the States.
I hate anti American bullshit, give it up they all came from elsewhere. |
