Change the channel or don't go into MJ posts. I know it is annoying to even read the subject line but you don't have to read the whole post.

Kisses4NSync wrote:It's really NOT hard to avoid MJ. Online I only see it here on JJB and on aol welcome page - both sites I could avoid if I had a problem with the MJ coverage. And MTV isn't the only channel not covering MJ. Neither is Bravo, TNT, USA, Food Network, Oxygen, Comedy Central, Travel/Discovery/History channels. What channels are you watching that are over-reporting MJ's death? Because I haven't found many. Granted I don't watch local news at all, but MSNBC and CNN are only covering it maybe 5 minutes per hour block. That's not that much to me. IMO, I don't think the complainers are doing a good enough job at avoiding the coverage. |

There is someone in the MJ post that annoys me with her 500 word essay-like replies but I just skip over he/she/it

I agree with MissDivaDoll. Watching the news coverage only makes it more saddening, so I will avoid sometimes watching coverage on him. It is
not that hard to do at all.
I am actually not into celebrity news as much and celebrity adoration and worship, but MJ's death has affected me like no other celeb's death did for a lot of reasons. I can understand why some can find it overbearing and too overdramatic with all the coverage, but obviously this is how the media and others will react to his death because of his iconic stature, level of fame, and just simply because of his legacy and the impact on pop culture and music he left behind. |

Why is it that when the mourners are told to 'get over it', that's considered rude and insensitive, but it's perfectly okay to tell the people
who are tired of the coverage to 'get over it'?
Only at JJB is that okay. And I haven't come here that much since he died, because yes, the 500 threads about him per day in General is annoying. I really wish that the mods/admins would make a long-term temporary MJ forum for all those threads to go into. It would be a win-win situation: those who want to be with like-minded mourners can hang out in that forum; those who want to discuss non-MJ stuff can hang out in General. |

I'm tired of literally every other JJB thread being about Michael, yeah. I understand that he was someone who a lot of people had a place in their heart for but some people act like he was the center of their world and now has died when you know some people hadn't even played one of his records in years and had basically forgotten about him until he died. Some people are seriously overdramatic about it. I'd probably care more about his passing had two of my closest friends not passed away last Tuesday. That kind of changes your outlook, any celebrity in the world could have passed away and I wouldn't have blinked. very well said. that's what I couldn't believe about the radio stations. Seriously, before he died they only played like two to three songs: The Way You Make Me Feel, Thriller and Beat It. Now all of a sudden they are playing his music 24/7 from the Jackson 5 years to his latest music. Some of these peole didn't give a crap about him 2 weeks ago now all of a sudden he passes away and everyone is upset about him. It's like what Al Shaprton (I think that's his name) said, "There are some people here who this time last month wouldn't give him the time of day, look at him or go near him but now all of a sudden people are running to UCLA or LA." As cold as it may sound he probably made more money on the day he died then he did in the past 5-6years

Not to interrupt this fascinating discussion but I did just read something interesting in the paper just now. Apparently MJ designed and has a registered
patent on file for those special shoes he wore to bend far forward. It even tells how they work and it's sort of in combination with little screws placed
in the floor and a space in the bottom of the shoe and the shoes lock into the floor screws and then you can easily step back to get out of them when you are
done. But they hold you steady from falling forward.

JustinzBabyGurl wrote:Please. Radio stations have to play what's current. They're playing his music in MEMORY. Get it? Once this all dies down it'll be back to the same old shitty music of today. Just because people weren't listening to his music the day he died doesn't mean they didn't care. People move on to new things but that doesn't mean you forget about the past. I have loved Michael Jackson all my life and up until the past week I hadn't listened to his music in a while. Doesn't make me or anyone else a bad fan or a fake fan. |

MissDivaDoll wrote: You just contradicted yourself. What I underlined is EXACTLY why a MJ forum is needed. People won't just stick to a huge sticky thread, they have to start the umpteenth MJ thread on their own. It's not like JJB doesn't already have a dozen forums, adding 1 more won't hurt. |

Michael Jackson wasn't just another musician, or celebrity. He defined music. He took it farther then most people before him did. He changed a lot in the
music business.
But not only that, he was a very sweet human being, who was taken advantage of. People just don't love this man for his music, they loved his generousity, kindness and love that he had. He and Lisa(when they were married) went to a lot of hospitals for children, and he did this when he wasn't married either, and he cheered many children up! I want all the truths out about Michael, I want people to know he was INNOCENT. I really do hope they get to the bottom of those allegedy molestation cases because I want everyone to stop saying, he is rotting in hell now. Anyways sorry lol.. but Princess Di's death lasted for awhile, and I am sure when Elvis died his death was in the spotlight for awhile also, but anyways.. Jackson was beyond just another person, he was very different and also amazing at the same time. I am done in this topic but just had to state this
Just avoid tv, if you are getting sick of the coverage or change the channel or whatever.. |
