the deposit was paid on Monday, but the company said they're not going to turn it on until NEXT FRIDAY. that doesn't sound right.
is it normal for it to take 2 weeks to get gas turned on?

You have to keep on their asses about getting it turned on. But given that this weekend is a holiday weekend, it sounds like a typical gas company.

My gas was turned on right away, i think. I still cant get my gas fire place to turn on.

Mine was on the same day. Both the gas and electricity were turned on right away. The only thing I had to wait for was the telephone and cable which took a
couple of weeks.

the power and water were turned on same- or next-day. Scana are a bunch of assholes! there's nohot water until it gets turned on.
