I've had a temp crown on for a while and just had the permanent one put on yesterday. And it's sore right now, as I eat my lunch.
Is my tooth supposed to be sore after having a crown put on?

It's not unusual. In order to cement the crown properly the dentist has to move tissue out of the way. The manipulation can cause soreness for a day or
two.

Cool. I don't really remember if it hurt like this or not when I had the temp one put on.

It's been quite a few years since I've made 'em but I don't remember going through as many steps to make and cement the temp. Which, I suppose,
is why it's only temporary! lol
Do you remember seeing different colored strings on the tray? Those are gently pushed down into the pocket around your tooth (it's always there, the dentist didn't make it) to hold the tissue away from the prep (tooth) so he can get a good seal with the permanent cement. That's the sore part. |

I don't recall. I always keep my eyes closed at the dentist.

You know what, now that I think about it, she did end up having to shave a bit of the surrounding teeth to make the crown fit. I'm sure that would also
cause a little soreness.
