I've only had this thing since mid February and 4 of my keys are rubbing off. The "E" key looks like it has a disease. It's all silver and
it's turning clear. The "T", "I" and "O" keys are doing the same thing. Anyone else have issues with their keyboard? Like,
is this common for this model? I did order a new keyboard, but I haven't installed it yet. It's either do it myself or find someone to do it for me.
But as soon as someone else touches it, the warranty is voided.

Nope that's weird. I've had mine since October and have never had any problems with anything, let alone the keyboard. The keyboard should be easy
enough to install yourself so imo it wouldn't be worth it to get someone else to do it.

Maybe I'll get lucky with my replacement then. Since it's new, I've made sure to be careful that my fingers aren't greasy or anything like
that. Especially after it started wearing off. It's just so strange. Yeah, I think I'm gonna take a crack at it myself. I'm usually pretty good
at this kinda stuff. *crosses fingers*
Here's what it looks like. WEIRD, huh? I've never seen anything like it. I've seen letter wear off after years of use, but nothing like this.

That is weird. I've had mine the same amount of time and it hasn't caught the disappearing paint lurgy yet... that's so annoying for you!!

Bring the keyboard in with the warranty and ask them to replace it.

(they never gave me that option) He just me a link to the directions online to do it. Which I have to write down by hand because I don't have a printer yet. I'm kind glad to hear this hasn't happened to anyone else and I just got a bum on and the next one won't do this. |

This whole computer is a piece of shit. My keys are looking good, but my mose scroll button has rubbed off like that.
They keys have popped off and umm this monitor is hanging on by a cord. |

My keyboard is in perfect condition. I hear they are easy/cheap to replace.
I think it's more a matter of what's on your fingers when you're typing. Not trying to be funny or anything. |

suthruncutie wrote:No, I know what you mean. I try not to touch the keys if I'm eating a sandwich or chips or something. I wash and wipe off my hands. And I wipe off the tips of my fingers after I put lotion on. Must be the natural oils in my skin. Which will suck if it happens again with my replacement. And my left mouse button is starting to wear like that a little too. It looks like something is on there and I keep trying to wipe it off, but to no avail. |

Got mine Feb 5th.. my keys looks ok, but my left click button on the touch pad? It's sunken in, discolored and occasionally does wierd things because it
"thinks" it's being touched.

I have a feeling that's how mine will end up as well. I've been tempted to use a usb mouse. But this one is more convenient when sitting on the couch.

Some of the keys on my mom's laptop look like that, but she has a Gateway. I've never had an issue with the keys on my 1525. I have wanted to chuck the
laptop out the window for other reasons though.
