So is anyone going to point out that it's the second time ALREADY that Phillip and Jeanine got not only hip hop, but NappyTabs?
That's unfair. Period. I feel like they catered to the talents of certain dancers this episode which makes it unlikely that they pulled dances out of a hat, minus for Vitolio and Carla who I can never remember. The Brian Friedman routine was good but Caitlin was SOOO wrong for that part, she could not pull it off. I could see so many other people in that role but not her. And that costume also ruined what was good about the routine, it was embarrassing and like the judges pointed out, kinda cartoonish and in my opinion - gimicky. Bottom Three: Jason and Caitlin, Vitolio and Carla, and I'm on the fence about the third pair... I really enjoy Evan/Randi as a pair, minus Randi sometimes, and this week it was kinda meh. I love Melissa and Ade but I didn't feel the cheesy romantic Romeo and Juliet bullshit (although I appreciated the pas de deux). Phillip and Jeanine I enjoyed but, like I said, I didn't that was fair - I hope people are smart enough to realize that while Phillip is great at his own genre, he will never fair as well with anything else. I'd like to see them at least till the top 10 so I can see some contemporary. I also want to see Evan and Randi do hip hop, a long with Melissa and Ade. They need Lil C choreography, a krumping routine would be cool. Brandon and Jennette (sp?) are really talented and I feel like I should like them, but they both rub me the wrong way. They were really good in their cha cha tonight, it helped that Jean Marc chose a good song. It was appropriate. /end rant. |

I LOVED Sonya's routine. Best one she's done for the show. Other than that, the show was a bit of a waste.
Also, the dancers don't really get a huge say in their costumes, do they? I've noticed this season there has been some flack regarding that. They should take it up with the designers instead of lashing out at the dancers for it. I feel like they catered to the talents of certain dancers this episode which makes it unlikely that they pulled dances out of a hat. I agree. I mean, what are the odds that Melissa would be the one to get the ballet routine? Something's off this season. |

I'm wondering if they're giving dancers their style more often because they're trying to get people hooked for viewing in the fall. Because this
has been a summer show & with not a lot of new stuff on TV in the summer it's pretty easy to get seemingly big numbers because it's summer viewing.
In the fall it's going to be harder, so they need to hook people now. So give the hip hop dancer hip hop, the ballet dancer more slow songs. You know? I don't know maybe I'm not right, but it would be smart of them to do that in the hopes of hooking people who might not normally watch to bring them into the fall. |

I love Ade and Melissa. I love Brandon and Jeanette. I don't think there is anything Brandon can't do and he is probably the best all around dancer I have seen on the show. I can't decide who I like better...Ade or Brandon. Phillip getting hip hop again was completely unfair. I don't like him. They haven't even gotten comtemporary yet. I don't like Caitlyn but dammit Brian give the dancers something that will make voters pick up the phone. He is just being weird just to be self serving. I don't like it. I am a huge Brian fan so this bothers me! I don't want him to leave the show again. |

Yeah, even when they were "picking from a hat," there was only one dance to choose from (I forget which season--2 maybe--one of the dancers put the
hat on his/her head after picking the dance, and no other cards fell out). However, it seemed much less contrived in previous season.
