I've also read that in the novelization and the comic adaptation of the movie (and the novelizations of movies always put more information in, just the nature of the different medium) the idea was that instead of duplicating a vehicle of some sort she duplicated an animatronic figure of Alice in Wonderland that was at some theme-park, hence her name "Alice".
