For those who have gotten laid off the past year or so due to the economy, how long did it take you to get another job? I got laid off a few weeks ago and I
have yet to have an interview and I've already applied to at least 30 companies...

I want to go back to school. All I have is a high school diploma and online school, but that was a waste of money.

For those that have been unemployed for years are you just not looking for a job or can you not find one?

Shit at one point I just stopped. I tried wal-mart, dsw, barnes & nobles, the mall, ywca, macy's, restaurants. I feel like moving to a different
state/ctiy for employment.

Too long as well....so I've also decided to go back to school and finish my degree. But like most others I'm so poor and can't afford to do
anything. I'm also afraid that my state won't continue extending unemployment though I heard that we received more federal funds since our unemployment
rate is so high.

I even applied at grocery stores as a cashier and didnt hear back. Finally i applied at an organic store that just opened that is about 30 minutes away from me. I have an interview tmrw. Wish me luck! |

needalove wrote:yeah there are much more opportunities in bigger cities or more prosperous cities than your average suburbs. try applying at different locations. it's always worked for me. also please make sure you don't have any typos on ur applications. i sort through resumes at my current job and you would be surprised how many people spell things wrong and we toss those applications without even looking further into it. it's such a waste of an opportunity to just not proofread and perfect ur resume. |

It took me 9 months to find an almost wage replacement job. I did however just get a promotion after a month and a half on the job, I just surpassed my old
wage.
