Apparently, it's related to anxiety/nervousness.
I need to stop doing it though. I just can't.

I put nail polish on to stop myself from biting/picking at them but that didn't work. I tried to put nail strengthening nail polish cuz then it'd be
too hard to pick at but i just bite them.

I pictured pinworms in mind everytime I wanted to bite. Problem solved.

Maicures helped me stop. I noticed that I never actually bit the nail off, just like nibbled on the sides when I had them done by someone lol. And I saw that
they would grow. So then I just stopped biting. I still nibble on the sides

I quit cold turkey 14 months ago, and my nails are so ridiculously strong and thick now, I don't think I'd be able to bite through them, even if I
wanted to.

I quit cold turkey. I haven't bitten them in about 10 years. But I do pick at my cuticles, which is even worse.

I bit mine till I went on a trip to Mexico in high school. We stayed in a poverty stricken area for 2 weeks, and they told us doing stuff like that would make
us sick. Came back home, never bit again after that.

Thanks guys, I need a 12 step program...and a sponsor! I feel good that its been about three weeks but I was hoping the urge would stop, it has yet too. Again
feeling the nails actually growing back is driving me insane.

I bit my nails in grade school. This is terribly embarrassing, but the way I stopped was because my best friend and I were going to an *NSYNC concert. She told
me that I had to quit biting my nails because if we met them, Justin would think I was gross for having bitten down nails. So I stopped.
Maybe you could look at an event in the future and think about how great it would be to look classy rather than like a little kid. It's motivation! Or you could put fake nails on for a while so your real nails have time to grow out. |

Thank God your friend never pointed out that Britney is a major nail biter and got sex with Justin.

The exact reason I finally quit. I've been a nail bitter for 25 years! I finally just stopped and my nails are a little on the weaker side but they are
growing longer and look good. It looks great when I wear rings and can paint them.
