When Michael Jackson passed away a few days before the live telecast, BET announced they would devote the program to the pop icon. The network's last-minute Jackson overhaul resulted in an uneven show -- aside from a speech from Janet Jackson, many viewers seemed disappointed. The most emotional response in the press seemed to come from Joe Jackson's grossly opportunistic plugging of his record label on the red carpet. Still, "BET Awards" were seen by 10.7 million viewers, edging out TLC's recent "Jon & Kate" breakup episode for the top spot.

Justin was going to do PYT even though he was in London for that fashion line. Chris Brown and Ciara doing scream. THan Chris to open the show with thriller and know it's man in the mirror. Beyonce to do a tribute.

They should have waited a few weeks to do a proper tribute.

BET should be ashamed of themselves. Hopefully MTV will do better because I don't think they could do worse then that shitty show they claimed to be in tribute of Michael Jackson.

As for BET they should've just put together a video tribute and aired it during the show instead of feeding people bullshit about "tribute performances"

Go figure.

Those tasteless jokes by JF, the poor performances safe for Neyo and a couple others. yeah should had just dedicated the show to MJ and then do a proper reunion show for him later.
