Do any of you have a problem with your S/O smoking weed? I don't have a problem with drinking, but for some reason i have a serious problem with pot. I know it's an herb, so spare me the lecture. We are not children so I don't know why the hell he wants to start doing it. He has never smoked anything in his life (trust me, if he did he would admit it)

Well, it is illegal, no matter what anyone's argument for it or against it is (and there are lots of compelling arguments), so it's not like you're against it for no reason. I think he is just starting crap with me, bescause he knows I am 100% against it. Now if he had done it in the past, and started up again, I can understand (sort of), but he has NEVER done it, so I don't know where he gets this. I told him if he does it, I will walk. He laughed It's bad enough I caught him smoking a cigar at a party and he knows I am so against smoking period. The man is very educated 32yrs old has 2 Masters degrees, and he wants to try pot WTF!!

As you've stated, he's a grown man. If he wants to try it, he will, with your permission or not. All you can do is tell him that you're unhappy with his decision and hope that he changes his mind/doesn't like it.

No one just decides to smoke pot one day, usually people are hanging out, it's there, and someone tries it. Then they continue if they want to. I used to smoke a loooot of pot, and while people should be able to do what they want to do, I think it's sort of sad when people are smoking it regularly after college age.

I really wish his best-friend would GO AWAY. We were fine until he moved here. Now I feel like we are slowly but surely drifting apart. He obviously never smoked it, becuase he knew/knows it is wrong and stupid, yet NOW he wants to start. I know for a fact heis damn friend is behind this bullshit (probably telling him to smoke it to help with stress)

And just because he wants to do something, doesn't mean you have to participate. I would set rules and let him know you are not ok with it around you, so he'll have to go outside or do it away from your house.

While he is a grown man and pot is pretty mild in terms of illegal narcotics, it''s still his decision. You said you'd walk if he tried it, so if you catch him. Walk. I'm assuming he laughed because he didn't believe you or he thinks you're being overdramatic. When you catch him, walk out and don't talk to him for the next two weeks or something. Maybe then it'll click in his mind that you really don't like it....then again, he can just learn to be more stealth with smoking it.

Mind you Canada's marijuana laws are very liberal compared to the U.S. so if there was the worry of him getting caught buying it or having it in his possession if the police stopped him, then I think I'd have some real concerns.

Which I admit I can be; which is why I posted the topic. But like you said, if I catch him I will seriously walk, and he knows I have no problem dumping his ass. He wants to test me, go ahead. I will not have the possible father of my children be a pot head (no I am not pregnant). Like I said, if he told me he tried it years ago, in his teens/college/early twenties i would not have a problem. But the man is 32 years old!!!

Not saying all laws are right (I think women should be allowed to sell their bodies if they choose), but pot and prostitution is illegal, whether we like it or not
