I always felt like the book ending was a copout in some ways... but, hey, it was about the fact that sometimes life doesn't work out the way that seems
inevitable. Seems wrong to change the ending so much.

I liked the book, but I also liked the movie. I was able to enjoy them both on a different level.

Saw the movie, the ending sucks.
They did take out the guardian ad litem (Julia) out altogether. They also didn't go into Jesse's (the brother) storyline. |

So is it explained how Anna died in the book?

I was pretty damned pissed at how they changed things for the movie.
Yes th emovie was beautifully done and I loved it, but I'mv ery upset at the ending. I knew that Nick had changed it and it was too big of a change for me. I'm mad. When I rewatch it, I think I will stop the tape when they're all still in the hospital room with Kate lol |

Because I feel that, most of the time, the endings of Jodi's books are what you never saw coming. Like her newest one, Handle with Care. Seriously hated
that ending but I NEVER saw it coming.
I think that by changing this so significantly, it's almost not her book anymore, ya know? |

^Well, it is not her book but a movie based on the book. I can see why they changed the ending, I think it worked for the film. I don't think the book
ending would have worked as well for a film.

Just came back from seeing this movie, I cried throughout the whole movie. And I do not cry often.

I hated the ending of the book, but I can't believe they changed the ending of the movie. That was the whole point and impact of the book!

Wasn't Dakota Fanning supposed to play Kate in the movie, but she dropped out because she didn't want to shave her head? Or did I mishear that?

^Yep thats right. her younger sister was supposed to play Anna. The ages of Kate and Anna were changed to fit the Fannings (who are younger than the girls who
play now play Kate&Anna).

^ Car crash I believe. So they were able to use Anna's kidneys to save Kate in the end.

I really didn't like the movie at all. To me, they skipped around a lot of important details (the whole gurdian ad liteum character as well as Jesse's
destructive ways). While I understand they wrote out the guardian probably in the interest of time, they could have given Jesse some sort of story line instead
of just BEING there.
I feel like the ending was totally predictable, and to me that wasn't what the book was about. I think they should have shopped around more and gotten someone other than Nick C to do the movie. |

Stupid question alert...
Sorry, I didn't read the book or see the movie but why did Anna decide NOT to give Kate a kidney and get a lawyer in the first place? |
