i'm terrified of driving or riding over those high bridges..the thought of being that high and driving off is my biggest fear. I've heard of cars
tumbling off.

I don't mind bridges but tunnels scare me and narrow highways where they are doing construction... and the dividers are very close and the car in the next
lane does not want to pass you. I hate that.

And the fact that they let cars drive over it scared the crap out of me as well. I'm not a huge fan of bridges but I've gotten kind of used to them since I've mainly been on the east coast the past 4 years. The tunnel-bridge from maryland to virginia freaked me out at first. That bridge is like 20 miles long! But I drove over it and thought it was cool. |

I live with two roommates and one of them is scared to death of bridges. She would never drive over one and even when she's a passenger she puts her head
down in her lap and won't look.

Bridges never scared me until I went in the underwater bridge in Virginia.

groovydee4 wrote:I totally have a bridge phobia, and that's exactly where I think it originated from as well. I'm okay with driving high on the freeway. It's mostly when the bridge is over open water or a gorge. I have managed to drive over bridges with the hopes that I will get over my fear by continuing to expose myself. The entire time is spent making strong efforts to remain calm. I had to drive over this to get to a friends wedding. I had no idea there was a bridge along the way until I was approaching it and there was a sign that said it was the tallest bridge in California... ahhhh. Auburn Ravine/Foresthill bridge
This one freaks me out just thinking about it:

Lake Pontchartrain Causeway: The second longest bridge in the world.
It's 24 miles each way. It takes about thirty minutes to cross. |

The "Twin Spans" in New Orleans after Katrina.
The Causeway is the longest bridge in the world. It's not high at all which is the reason it's so scary. It sits so low that when it gets too windy or the weather gets bad, the Causeway Police have to shut the bridge down. |

Usually, concrete bridges don't bother me, but I hate the suspended, swaying bridges that go over water!

I was at the Hoover Dam a few weeks ago and the bypass that's under construction is pretty scary.

I don't mind traffic birdges, so to speak, but bridges over water freak me the fuck out. When my fam when to Virgina one summer my dad insisted we drive
the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Worst couple hours of my life.
