I always thought I would pay for my own wedding because my parents are the type that if they have an extra buck, it's gone the next day. They never save So my parents the other day were going on an on about how when I get married they're going to invite all these people and exclude this and this family member that they hate (lol). So I'm like what are you paying for my wedding that I'm gonna be able to afford to invite all these people. And then they were just silent.

Posts: 13714 (06/29/2009 5:03 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Friend Block Invite Ignore	If you're lucky enough to have parents that can afford it, it's an old tradition that the bride's parents pay- but nowadays, there's no hard and fast rule. A lot of couples end up paying for their own wedding, or at least chipping in with the parents. I know of a couple that got married recently, and the bride's parents paid for the reception, except for the alcohol, which was paid for by the couple, and the groom's parents paid for the honeymoon.

Nice gesture, but I don't know if I would want them to do that just for me. Or maybe if they do that, it'll be like an interest free loan that I can pay them back.

But at the same time, the money received as gifts would cover it all in the end (I would assume)
