It's Angelina Jolie as you've never seen her. The superstar made her big-screen debut at age 5, playing the daughter of her real-life dad, Jon Voight. "Lookin' to Get Out" -- a Las Vegas comedy by "Coming Home" director Hal Ashby -- was released nearly two years after it was shot in 1980 on a budget of $17 million. But it was a huge critical and box-office failure -- selling less than a million dollars worth of tickets -- and has never been available on video until tomorrow's DVD release of the newly edited version. The release is largely due to the efforts of Voight -- who a couple of years ago learned Ashby had secretly re-edited the film before his death in 1988 -- and to the fame of Jolie. "Hal was working on two other films at the time [of the movie's release], and there was a lot of drama," Voight told The Post. "Our film was handed over to other editors, and the result was a crippled movie. We were very hurt by the reception." Jolie's scene with Voight lasts just over a minute. He explains to the child that he's wearing bandages because he crossed against traffic and that he comes from New York. The girl replies that the man she believes is her father -- Ann-Margret's male companion in the movie, played by Richard Bradford -- "visits New York" a lot. "I was a co-writer and co-producer, so I had a lot to say about the casting," said Voight, 70. "Angie was terrific, very well-prepared. I wasn't looking for any signs whether she'd be an actress," he said. Ashby was also an Oscar-winning editor for "In the Heat of the Night." His version of "Lookin' to Get Out" for DVD has been extensively re-edited, with alternate takes and 15 minutes added from the theatrical version. "Hal's hand is in every single frame," Voight said. "Finally, this is the film he intended. It's like a message in a bottle." |

Maybe Papa Pitt and Maddox will attend. Celebrities, music and very fast motorcycles
Updated: 06/29/2009 01:26:21 AM PDT
But this year, the most technically advanced motorcycles on the planet and their riders will be here on Fourth of July weekend. The cycles get on track Friday and Saturday with practice and qualifying for the final race on Sunday. When the MotoGP came to Laguna Seca in 2005 it turned out to be the largest event in the history of the world-renowned raceway, which held its first race in 1957. It was the first time the raceway declared a sellout, with about 55,000 fans on race day. Primarily a European tour - with stops in Asia and Australia - MotoGP has always drawn huge crowds around the world with the riders treated much like rock stars. Still don't understand what all the MotoGP fuss is about? Well, here is a little more background on what is one of the only two U.S. stops by the world's premier class of motorcycle racing. What kind of racing is this? Is it like motocross? Do they jump over obstacles? Think leatherclad, helmeted riders zooming around the 11-turn track at speeds sometimes exceeding 180 mph. The bikes are light and expensive, made of titanium and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, powered by four-cylinder, 800cc engines. There are no jumps, no obstacles, unless something goes horribly wrong. Can I get a last-minute ticket? Yes. The event is not yet sold out and if you decide Saturday or Sunday morning
The first, if you're on a motorcycle, enter through Barloy Canyon off of Reservation Road and you can purchase tickets there. Secondly, if you're coming by car, go to the CSUMB campus on the former Fort Ord where you can park, purchase a ticket and ride a complimentary shuttle bus to the track. There is very limited auto parking on the Laguna Seca site (which has essentially been sold out) and the bus is the best way to get into and out of the track, anyway. Will there be celebrities? Every year, there have been numerous celebrity sightings, including Brad Pitt, who was Grand Marshal in 2005, Tom Cruise last year and AMA team owner Michael Jordan. Who's going to come this year? No telling but the speed and show put on by MotoGP seem to be a celebrity magnet. Most don't make their potential presence known until the day of the event. What's the drama? Entering this past weekend, three riders were tied for the championship points lead - Valentino Rossi, his teammate Jorge Lorenzo of Spain and 2007 series champ Casey Stoner of Australia. The title chase is one of the closest in history and the season won't be half over when they come to Laguna Seca. The flamboyant Rossi won at Laguna in 2008, punctuating the victory by parking his Yamaha at the top of the signature Corkscrew (Turns 8 & 8A, which gave the Europeans fits at first) and kissing the pavement in the middle of the famous turn. Will there be more than just racing? Yes. There will be live music in the Corkscrew area each day, a MotoGP fan party in the Turn 4 Yamaha Marketplace area, a free concert by local group Crash in the Yamaha Marketplace, stunt shows in the marketplace as well as a stunt show in front of the Turn 4 and 11 grandstands by Bill Dixon during on-track breaks. Anything for the kids? Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S. will offer a "Learn to Ride Demo" event featuring Yamaha's TT-R bikes in the Yamaha Marketplace. Children under the age of 12 will have the opportunity to ride the TT-R 50 and TT-R 110 in a controlled environment with instruction and supervision. Experienced or a complete novice, it doesn't matter. By the way, children under 12 are admitted free (except to the grandstands and hospitality areas) with a paying adult. Fireworks? Sorry, other than the on-track fireworks among the riders, there will be no fireworks allowed at the track. That has been mandated by county officials because of the fire hazard that will exist with all the dry grass in the area. |

OT: RIP Michael. n Sunday night at the end of the BET Awards, Janet Jackson spoke publicly for the first time about the death of her beloved older brother Clad all in white, a visibly distraught Janet remained strong as she fought back tears while addressing the audience. "My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful," she told the crowd - which included her father Joe Jackson - which cheered and stood on its feet. She then said her comments would be brief. "To you, Michael is an icon," Janet said. "To us, Michael is family. He will forever live in all of hearts. "On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much." She teared up toward the end of her comments. |

This column can assure you that it's absolutely not true. They have several kids together, have a saint status for their humanitarian deeds, and have been Hollywood's hottest couple for the past three years. Does Jennifer Aniston have something to do with this? After all, Ms. Aniston can't seem to keep a husband, boyfriend, or even a film career. Perez Hilton and others constantly call her "Maniston" and she is ridiculed throughout the Internet. It's most probable that the rumors being spread are by people who are so miserable with their own lives that they love to see celebrities fail. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have what true stars are made of. Unfortunately, that's just too much for some. |

Dulcinea, neer & of course BDJ. Thanks for the news/articles.
Maybe the reason they have to work on the tandem of Jen & Gerald is to make it as a Mr & Mrs Smith scenario. The X is the producer of this movie & it has to make $$$ or else her status will diminish into oblivion. The X is a great manipulator. Imagine dating a guy named Bradley who was once married to a gal named Jennifer Esposito. Now, the X & Gerald has to work it out a chemistry a la Mr & Mrs Smith. Off to work. back later. |

X-17 just posted some new pics of Brad on his bike, but they don't say when they were taken (maybe yesterday?).

I know the colors are a little Halloween-ish, but they
look good on Angelina Jolie's babydaddy!
Johnny Depp might be sexier overall, but Brad's def no slouch. Raise your hand if you wanna hop on the back of his
bike!

Well, OF COURSE we called this. The predictability is stunning in and of itself. I've never seen someone who has a playbook that's such a no-brainer a 3 year-old could have written the simple inevitable PR whoring steps. What do they do after a double smackdown from Cooper? Why drag Gerry 'McBloatface' Butler into her hell. Hahahah! Sooo funny. Right now, the only thing 'Huvaniston' is occupied with is namely how to get Butler to be seen off-set with her so they can spin him like Cooper. It feels like ol' Ger' isn't cooperating though. They may have to threaten or bribe him before it's over. What's even more depressing than her life? Well, the fact that at some point we ALL will have to suffer thru her cringe-inducing awkward, pitiful, uncomfortable, defensive, guarded promotional junkets for these crapfests, complete with perhaps more bashing of Angie. Ugh.Even the NYP knows it's true, describing her personality as "often cranky" and when she isn't they describe that, as "unusual." |
