Oh FYI if you do want to spend thousands of dollars for one, you have to assemble them YOURSELVES.
Unless you are Jon & Kate, of course.

AND YOU HAVE TO PAINT THEM, TOO.
This company should be ashamed of themselves. |

Kate is exactly like my SIL. Secretly I think Kate is her hero and role model.

I didn't think they were as cute as they sounded either. My husband saw me watching that episode and looked them up online...looks like those houses would
have cost them $10,000.

Which models did J&K get? I haven't seen the finished product on the show yet, but I'm sure they didn't get the basic one.

Agree with above.
And also, is it just me or was anyone else thinking of at least a dozen ways a kid could get seriously injured in them? Those doors that swing all the way in are an accident waiting to happen - as was evidenced by several of the Gosselins (including Kate) getting hit by them. I can't believe they're as expensive as they are - they're structurally sound, sure, but what is it inside? Um, the backside of some plywood and 2x4s and some stickers if you're lucky. I was getting splinters just looking at them!
Very cute idea, but for that money, I'd want a palace for my kid. And I didn't realize assembly wasn't included in the cost...which means if MY dad was putting one together when I was a kid, it probably would NOT have been structurally sound!

Oh geez Kate strikes again with her disinterest in free stuff.
Jon was doing a voiceover explaining the process. How they sent stencils for the kids to draw on and how they received a rendering that they approved, etc. In the next shot Aaden asked: "Is ours going to have dinosaurs?" Kate: "No, I think yours is pirates. I forget, though." Ugh. |

I had a big playhouse as a kid with furniture inside and a loft, and I know my parents didn't spend thousands of dollars on it.

It pissed me off when the builder guy showed Jon the stickers they made for them, and he gave an unenthusiastic "awesome." Both parents didn't
seem to give a shit they got free thousand dollar playhouses, they just wanted to get them put in and get it over with.

My parents wouldn't even spring for that plastic playhouse that everyone seemed to have in the 80s.
We had to make a fort under my dad's pool table. |

Seriously. It's a cute idea, and they look nice on the outside, but I was shocked at how small they were, and especially how plain they are inside.
There's nothing in there! Especially for that outrageous amount of money. It seems like the kids would get bored with them pretty quickly.

I'm surprised Kate didn't make TLC pay for a couple of these. $30,000:
